Conditions of Use & Academic Integrity

Version 2026-11-02 • effective 2 November 2026 • part of the Terms of Service

These conditions set out what is and is not allowed when using XPRISM (Experimental Pharmacology Research & Interactive Student Module). They apply to every user, whatever their role.

1. Academic integrity (students)

  • Submit only your own work. Do not let anyone else operate your account or complete your experiments, and do not do so for others.
  • Each student receives their own randomised "unknown" drugs, test solutions and tissue sensitivities. Copying another student's answers is detectable and will not match your own experiment.
  • In exam mode you must work alone, within the time limit, without assistance or unauthorised material. Do not attempt to bypass the timer, re-enable disabled controls, inspect or modify the page's code, or open several attempts in parallel.
  • Breaches may be reported to your college and handled under its academic-misconduct rules. Faculty may set aside marks obtained dishonestly.

2. Responsibilities of faculty and administrators

  • Access only the data of students and staff you are responsible for, and only for teaching, assessment or administration.
  • Distribute temporary passwords and credential sheets securely (e.g. individually, not on public notice boards or open groups), and delete downloaded credential files once distributed.
  • Exported marks sheets contain personal data: store them securely and share them only with those entitled to see them.
  • Handle data-protection requests promptly (within 30 days) through the Requests page.
  • Deactivate accounts of staff and students who have left.

3. Prohibited use (everyone)

  • Attempting to access accounts, data or pages you are not authorised for; probing, scanning or testing the vulnerability of the Lab; or circumventing authentication, rate limits or role restrictions.
  • Automated access (bots, scrapers, scripts) other than normal use of a web browser.
  • Uploading files that contain malware, or personal data of people who have not agreed to it.
  • Interfering with the operation of the Lab or other users' use of it, including overloading the server.
  • Using the Lab or its content for commercial purposes, or copying or redistributing simulations, without written permission.
  • Harassing, impersonating or misrepresenting yourself as another person or role.
  • Creating more than one free-trial account, or sharing a trial or subscribed account, to get around the one-visit-per-module trial rule.
  • Using simulated results as real experimental data, or as guidance for treating humans or animals.

4. Reporting problems

If you find a security problem, an error in a simulation, or content that seems wrong, please report it to drvaraprasadsaka@gmail.com. Do not exploit or publicise a security problem before it is fixed. Good-faith reports are welcome.

5. Consequences

Breach of these conditions may lead to suspension or closure of the account, notification of the college, and, where the law is broken, reporting to the appropriate authorities.

6. Ethical use of animals

All users accept the ethical-use undertaking, based on the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction, Refinement), the CCSEA framework under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960, and the Pharmacy Council of India's requirement for computer-assisted modules in place of animal experiments. Simulations do not replace the registration, IAEC approval, training and supervision required for any real work with animals.
