ABOUT
XPRISM: Experimental Pharmacology Research & Interactive Student Module
Aim
XPRISM exists to put the 3Rs (Replacement, Reduction and Refinement) into everyday practice in pharmacology education. It gives students realistic, interactive alternatives to animal experiments, so that practical skills can be learned without harming animals, and it builds a lasting habit of ethical, responsible research in line with CCSEA and PCI guidelines.
What XPRISM offers
- Replacement: interactive simulations of the experimental pharmacology practicals in the B.Pharm curriculum, including behavioural studies, isolated tissue preparations and bioassays, so that they can be learned without using animals.
- Reduction: students can repeat a practical as often as they need, so where animal work is still required, it only begins after the method has been mastered.
- Refinement: each module teaches correct handling, dosing, humane end-points and the observations that matter, so any future animal work causes the least possible distress.
- Ethics and compliance: every user accepts an ethics agreement based on the 3Rs and on the guidelines of CCSEA and the Pharmacy Council of India.
- Learning that can be assessed: faculty assign experiments, students submit observation sheets and viva answers, and marks are recorded securely.
